Way to choose which updates appear in the inbox
Open gozala opened 10 months ago

Sincle last update (I’m on 0.4.1 now) I find myself in the distraction loop because of the inbox notifications. I am not sure if there is a way to unsubscribe to notifications on various repos that I have seeded or cloned, but getting notification on every single issue or patch for all of them is very distracting.

Perhaps there could be a way to opt-out of that similar to how in github it is possible to choose watch level

Even better if I could configure my profile to choose default watch policy so I don’t have to manually adjust it

Just to clarify, what exactly is distracting? Is it the notifications themselves in the inbox when you open the popover, or the notification counter + app badge? If it’s the notifications in the popover, you should be able to hide them.

I agree with OP.

Now that there is an unread counter, I found myself wanting to:

  • select which repos I receive updates for - e.g. for repos where I am a maintainer and I want to hear about all issues / patches created, etc.
  • select which specific issues I want to follow - e.g. for repos where I am just a contributor and I am only involved in some discussions

Later I would also want to always be notified when someone “mentions me”, but we don’t have mentions yet, so…

Also, to note another pain point:

Even when I hide the notifications, the counter doesn’t take that into account. So I see the counter updated, I open the app to see updates that I expect would be relevant to me and not only are they not relevant, but I’ve also previously taken explicit action to hide these notifications (which the app now seems to ignore :/ ).

Yeah, that’s a known issue. We’ll have to put in some time to make this better.
